Student Belonging

We believe that in order to learn, students must first feel safe and connected. We know that a sense of belonging is critical to social emotional development and that students who feel a connection to peers and significant adults have more positive mental health and better academic success. Teaching social emotional skills to all students in a classroom setting provides a network of peer support and increases the capacity of all adults to be that significant adult for a child. Our in-class support model for both counselling and learning support creates an environment of inclusion and celebrates the diversity within our schools.
